Close, but distant

I've heard this a lot

Close to me physically but never mentally

Right there next to me but is emotionally unavailable

Is that like the Sun - always around but never close enough

Is that like the Sun - distant enough to provide warmth but not close enough to harm

Is that like the Sun - close enough to nourish the flora and fauna but distant from the poles to keep them in 'almost' eternal darkness

Is that like the Sun - providing just enough to keep you going and setting to force you to stop

Is that like the Sun - showing the way but hiding behind the clouds to keep the journey pleasant

Is that like the Sun - harsh at the noon and soothing at the rise and set
